"Captain!"

Hook had been in his quarters on the Jolly Roger when the call came from Smee. He'd left his fellow pirate in charge of his new crew of lost boys and he couldn't help rolling his eyes. Usually a call like this meant something was broken or they needed the Captain to settle some point. They were still tied up to the docks of Storybrooke, honestly, how much trouble could these boy cause?

He grabbed his hook off his desk as he passed and screwed it into place before he took his coat off it's hook. Once he finally looked the part of the fearsome pirate Captain Hook, he found it helped his authority with boys if he played up the part, he strode out on deck. "Yes Smee...what is it?"

Smee hurried up to Hook, a dripping wet bottle in his hands. "Captain! I was teaching the boys how to use the fishing nets when one of them got this caught in the line. I don't kn..." He kept going but Hook wasn't listening anymore. He swiped the bottle out of Smee's hands, has he had a dark feeling that he knew what it was.

"Thank you Smee, go back to your nets. Let the Captain take care of this." Hook immediately returned back into his cabin and locked the door tight. If his hunch was right, he didn't want the Evil Queen or the Crocodile to get wind of this. He settled into his chair and looked the bottle over...and rubbed it.

Rum. Blessed, blessed rum. Getting drunk was hardly the answer, the Knave knew, but he didn't care right now. It wasn't as if he was going anywhere and he really wanted to something to drown out everything in his head.

He opened the bottle and took a long drink, waiting for the buzz to hit him. All he got was a pleasant sort of feeling, almost like a tickle. He took another gulp but there was nothing. No buzz, no feeling of tipsiness or giddiness - just a slight tickling sensation.

"Oh, bloody hell!" he wailed. "It's not bad enough that I'm a genie but now I can't even get drunk? You have got to be kidding me."

He gave the bottle a last longing look then slid it over to the pirate. There was no sense in drinking the rum if he couldn't even enjoy it.

"That's a long story. Let's just say be careful what you wish for and leave it at that."

The Knave hadn't thought it was anything particularly earth shattering at the time though in all fairness, he had been rather distracted with his impending death (and Anna though he was damned if he was going to think about her now). In hindsight, it made all the sense in the world considering wish logic.

"I didn't think so at the time so that's something else you better remember," he said. "It might seem like no big thing, what you wish for, but there'll be a consequence and you had better well be bloody prepared for it.'

There was a story there, that much was certain. It didn't seem like Hook wanted to talk about it, though, and that was more than fine with the Knave. If the pirate knew enough to be careful then this wouldn't go too badly.

Theoretically, anyway.

"Well, good. Long as that's clear, then."

"Coke? You have coke here?" The Knave straightened up in his chair. It wasn't rum or any kind of alcohol, really, but he'd take it.

Though if they had coke, that meant they weren't anywhere near Wonderland. "Wait, just where the bloody hell am I?"

Storybrooke. Of course it would have to be Storybrooke and he still had Granny's keys in his pocket, didn't he? At least she couldn't get at him here. He didn't think so, at any rate.

The more he thought about it, though, the more he realized that this was the palce place he could at the moment. Assuming Jafar still wanted a genie, he'd have to track him down and even if he did find out where he was, he'd have to deal with the Dark One and the Evil Queen.

Right now, he wasn't going to think about any of that. He was just going to open his coke, suck it down like there was no tomorrow and just... wait to see what his new master (and how he hated that word) wanted next.

"I was there for awhile, yeah," the Knave answered. Something occurred to him and he dug into his pockets and yep - still there. Maybe it was a good thing he was a genie and subject to Hook's whims - Granny couldn't get at him from here. He hoped, anyway.

"Interesting town."

"Yeah well, I weren't a genie then," the Knave sighed. "I was just sitting there, minding me own business when the White Rabbit showed up. He said a friend needed help and talked me into coming with him. He creates portals, don't ask me how and we jumped in."

"Yeah, she is," the Knave answered. Alice was, well, a lot of things but she had gotten him his heart back and he was grateful to her for that, even if he hadn't gone so far as it put it back in.

"It ain't like that," the Knave said, guessing that Hook thought he and Alice had that kind of relationship. "She helped me out once and I owed her, that's all."

The Knave just smiled wryly. That was true, all right, much more than he wanted to admit. He'd been perfectly happy sitting on his arse in Storybrooke, watching telly and occasionally lifting things from people. If Alice hadn't needed him, he'd be there still.

"It's a funny story, that. It was her genie," he answered. He wasn't exactly keen on giving Hook the gory details but he couldn't not answer, either. "Long story short, a wish made us change places."
